As the New York Times put it, "You can't memorize all the possible answers—you have to rely on intuition, generalizing from specific examples." Memorization does not lead to deep learning of organic chemistry because students cannot apply information to new situations without understanding the fundamentals.
We tackled the following challenges and developed Understand OCHEM:
